Indigo Dyer 🧵 Since I began learning indigo dyeing, blue has gradually filled my life. My wardrobe is now dominated by indigo-dyed clothing, and blue objects have steadily increased in my home. Even my hands, stained with shades of blue, have become my most distinctive mark. In the days spent caring for the dye vat, blue has become a part of my daily routine. Each morning, my first thought is the condition of the vat: Is the fermentation going well? Does the alkalinity need adjustment? At night, before I sleep, I can’t help but pray for the vat to remain stable. Once the vat is ready, I start planning the day’s dyeing—deciding on the amount, layering of tones, and their transitions. Every step is both challenging and captivating. Through these dyed fabrics, I hope to capture and express the days I’ve shared with blue—from the light of dawn to the stillness of twilight, where every moment has been enriched by the depth of indigo.
